Im getting error messages when I login to windows saying that it cant find or load "scvhost.exe" in the registry. A command prompt also pops up saying that command prompt is disabled by the Admin but I am the Admin. I cant see the task manager either it also says it's disabled.

My McAfee Security Center was saying that some of my virus protection components were missing and to reinstall it. I reinstalled it but it still said they were missing so I completely removed McAfee from my computer and restarted. I tried to redownload and reinstall McAfee Security Center and other products but again it I had to restart before reinstalling.

I scanned with Ad-Aware 2007 and I found 2 malware and deleted them. I restarted but I still got the error messages and I still couldnt reinstall McAfee.

Hi Deadmeat182,

I see that you are using HijackThis version 2 Beta. As it is a beta software, it might not be stable and may cause problems for your PC.

  1. Please download the latest stable version of HijackThis from here. Do Not run it directly via a browser. Save it to your desktop.
  2. Next, go to Start > Control Panel. Double click on Add/Remove Programs. Locate HijackThis 2.0.0 from the list of installed programs and click Change/Remove to uninstall it.
  3. Now, run the stable version of HijackThis that you've just downloaded.
  4. Click on the Unzip button. It will install HijackThis to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
  5. Go to C:\Program Files\HijackThis and double click on hijackthis.exe to run it.
  6. Select Do a system scan and save a logfile. Please post this log in your next reply.
Do not fix anything you see as not all entries are harmful to your PC.
