Unread postby Insung » May 26th, 2007, 2:12 pm

I have recently got affected by BJCFD after installed at&t yahoo high speed internet. When I want to turn the computer off, it won't turn off. It shows that BJCFD is running and it askes me to end the process. If I don't, then the computer won't turn off. Once I end the process, the computer turns off.

I found it under Broadband Jumpstart. I have a DSL connection at&t yahoo high speed internet. I tried many times to uninstall the program from "add remove programs" but it doesn't do it. It says the file might be in use.
I've tried Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy but it doesn't work

Need your advise on how to overcome this. I think the reason it started was that I used SBC installation CD to install at&t yahoo high speed internet and this program also got installed. Not sure.

Thanks

Hello Insung...welcome to Malware Removal! :D

I do not see any obvious malware in your HJT log. Maybe the problem is a corrupted install of BJCFD?

In any case, according to CastleCops, BJCFD is not required and can be removed: http://www.castlecops.com/s420-bjcfd.html

Of course, if your ISP requires this program perhaps a uninstall/reinstall would help.

I prefer removing things via add/remove programs when able as you have tried to do...since you cannot do that in normal Windows mode (program in use) I would try to remove it via add/remove programs with the computer in safe mode when the program should not be running.

You can boot into safe mode as follows:

Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.

Once in safe mode, use add/remove programs in the control panel to try and unistall the program.

Let me know if this helps.

OK...try this:

Open HijackThis, click Open Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Hello Insung...

OK...let's try and remove BJCFD with HJT:

1. Delete an Entry from the Uninstall List

  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • Click on the Box that says "Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on the entry Broad Jump Client Foundation
  • Click on Delete this entry
  • Click "Yes"

Post back with a new HJT log for me to review...

If this doesn't work, we can try and remove it manually.

Did you see Broad Jump Client Foundation in the HJT uninstall list when you followed my last set of instructions to remove the program with the HJT uninstall utility?

OK...let's do it this way:

1. Please re-open HiJackThis and choose scan only. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BJCFD] C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

2. Reboot into safe mode by restarting your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

3. Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):
  • Click Start>>All Programs>>Accessories>>Windows Explorer
  • Navigate to the listed folders, then right-click to select them and click delete

C:\Program Files\BroadJump

After that, Reboot.

4. Post another HJT log for me to review.

What do you think?

Looks good...are you having any problems with your system?

I do see that you Bittorrent installed....It's your choice if you want to use P2P filesharing programs, but be aware that they can be a significant cause of malware intrusion to your system.

The Bittorrent is gone.

The Bitdefender O16 entry in the HJT log is just an Active-X control from a Bitdefender online scan you must have run before...it is nothing ot worry about.

If you want to get rid of that Active-X control for Bitdefender, you can repeat my last instructions for 'fixing' with HJT and check the box for:

O16 - DPF: {5D86DDB5-BDF9-441B-9E9E-D4730F4EE499} (BDSCANONLINE Control) - http://download.bitdefender.com/resourc ... oscan8.cab

in HJT and fix it...but it's OK if you do not, it's not a 'baddie'.

Your HJT log appears clean...are you having any problems with your computer?
