I'am feeling it... here in Virginia its $3.05 US dollars per gal., but when you really think about it $3.05 isn't that bad. Take a look at the prices around the world

I just filled up and it's 94p a litre.

Using a rough conversion of 5ltr = 1 Gallon

and a currency conversion of $1.97US to the £UK

We get a UK price of £4.70 which is $9.26 a gallon.

I live in the North of England, I highly suspect the London price will be higher.

Bear in mind that a US gallon is smaller than a UK one (US = 3.785411784 litres : UK = 4.54609 litres). It's still a lot more expensive in the UK though.

I'd forgotten that a US Gallon is smaller, also I rounded up to 5ltr to a gallon, so the $9.26 is a bit high, I just knew it was way over $5.79/gallon.

I know we're always amazed when we're driving in the states and can fill the tank for less than $50 (usually quite a bit less than). You guys are spoiled.

I guess that the cars in the States won't do 65 miles to a gallon like our small diesels here in France. Here you need a small car as the parking spaces are so small.

Even Japanese cars in the US seem to be double the size of the European ones of the same name. The Toyota RAV4 for example.

Current prices here in Brazil:

Gasoline (23% ethanol) - USD 1.29 per liter (my car runs 7.2 miles/L)
Alcohol (100% ethanol) - USD 0.67 per liter (my car runs 6 miles/L.)
GNV (100% methane) - USD 0.65 per cubic meter (my car runs 7.5 miles/m3)
Diesel - USD 1.92 per liter (my car does not use this one)

My car is a Fiat Doblò using a GM 1.8 flex-powered engine (runs with any blend of ethanol or gasoline) and is equipped with Natural Gas (methane 15 m3 kit).

I actually use ethanol at startup, then the system automatically switches to methane when the engine reaches 2,800 RPM. I can switch it back to ethanol or gasoline manually while running in case I need more power.

We have the flex technology (building alcohol powered cars since 1980) and the sugar cane alcohol... maybe our country will be the next "alternative arab emirates"
