Hey guys,

It seems biglom is hijacking all of my IE Google searches and putting their links at the top of the search results (though it doesn't seem to be affecting Firefox searches).

Any help in removing this is greatly appreciated.
Below is my HiJackThis log. Thanks for the help.

  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check mark by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Follow all the prompts, click Finish, and let the installer start HijackThis.
  • Click the Do a System Scan and Save a Log File option.

Thanks for the help.

I have pasted the log from the correct version of HijackThis.

Also, besides the searches being hijacked, I seem to be getting popups from "UltimateCleaner 2007". In the task manager it's under the name "ucleaner_45aTq2V13X[1].exe". Doesn't look good ;).

I have also taken a look at the Event Viewer and see entries such as the following. Not sure if it is related to BigLom or if it's a different issue:
"Security Risk Found!Threat: Downloader.Trojan in File: c:\program files\common files\svchost.exe by: Manual scan. Action: Terminate Process Required. Action Description: "

Thanks for the help. If you need any other info, please let me know.

Hello Flack

Thanks for posting log. Ok let's get started here please do the following.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

----------------------------------------------------------

This is next:

Make a uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1.Start HijackThis

Image

2. Click on the Open the Misc tool section button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button

Image

4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

Image

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save list button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply. Note: please uncheck word wrap under format in notepad

Post HJT Uninstall list in next reply

---------------------------------------------------------------

In your next reply to this thread post these for me to check:
C:\vundofix.txt

Alright.

Before I post the logs I just want to add that starting today, every time I open IE I get the following error message:
"An unhandled win32 exception occured in IEXPLORE.EXE[2912]", then asking me if I would like to debug using the selected debugger (Visual Studio 2005).
Each time the error comes up it is with a different number. Not sure it is related to anything you might find though.

1. VundoFix ran and didn't find any infected files.

C:\VundoFix.txt:

VundoFix V6.3.18

Scan started at 6:35:32 PM 3/27/2007

No infected files were found.

Hello Flack

Before I post the logs I just want to add that starting today, every time I open IE I get the following error message:
"An unhandled win32 exception occured in IEXPLORE.EXE[2912]", then asking me if I would like to debug using the selected debugger (Visual Studio 2005).
Each time the error comes up it is with a different number. Not sure it is related to anything you might find though.

I will have to check in to this error message you are getting and let you know what I find later but now I need you to do the following.

Here we are going to clean out cookies and temp files from your computer.

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

Download CCleaner from here It will start to download automatically. If ask if you want to download let it. Save to your Desktop.
Note: If you get and Error page from this link.
Try again you will see this message Your download of CCleaner will automatically start in 5 seconds. Click here if it does not do not wait go ahead and click on it.
  • Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
  • Select your language and click OK, then next.
  • Follow prompts to install finish to complete installation.
  • Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
    • On the Windows tab, under Internet Explorer,
      • All Boxes should have a check mark. (You will need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
    • On the Windows tab, under Windows Explorer,
      • All Boxes should have a check mark.
    • On the Windows tab, under System,
      • All Boxes should have a check mark.
    • On the Windows tab, under Advanced,
      • NO check marks
  • If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to put check in for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla. If already checked move to next step.
  • Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."
deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
  • Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
  • Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
  • After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.
  • You will need to reboot here if not ask to do so.

Hello Flack

Thanks for posting logs. Now I need you to run this tool next.

Download WinPFind3U.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind3u on your desktop.

  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar. << do not change any settings
  • The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.

Use the Add Reply button and Copy/Paste the information back here. I will review it when it comes in. If, after posting, the last line is not
< End of Report > then the log is too big to fit into a single post and you will need to split it into multiple posts.

Hello Flack

I am sorry for the inconvenience I have just been told that there is and issue with winpfind3u that it stops responding when running scan.
Until this has been resolved I will need you to run to online line scans to see if anything is hiding from HJT but follow the fix in order given first.

These scan have to be run with Internet Explorer not firefox let me if that is a problem.

I see your are running Internet Explorer v6 is there any reason why you have not updated to IE 7 yet by going to window update?
It may help the problem you are having.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
  2. Click Start, then select My Computer)
  3. Select the Tools (at top of opened screen in menu and click Folder Options.
  4. After the new window appears select the View tab.
  5. Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
  6. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
  7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
  8. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
  9. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present):

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {117F6FC4-06E7-8575-F3A4-03C379670221} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\lzvbkuh.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [odqlms.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe "C:\Documents and Settings\Kolanovic Family\Local Settings\Application Data\odqlms.dll",kiirh
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winjjq32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winjjq32.dll

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Use Explorer to navigate to and delete the following files (if they are present) just what is in red:

Files:

  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\lzvbkuh.dll
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Kolanovic Family\Local Settings\Application Data\odqlms.dll
  • C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winjjq32.dll

Reboot computer
NOTE: If these files will not delete in normal mode you can boot into safe mode and try again.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
You must use Internet Explorer browser for this scan to work not Mozilla Firefox.

  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      • Extended (If available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
      • Scan Archives
      • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.

1. Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button NOTE: If you have a popblocker enable you will have to allow popup here.
2. A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
3. Enter your Country
4. Enter your State/Province
5. Enter your e-mail address and click send
6. Select either Home User or Company
7. Click the big Scan Now button
8. If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
9. It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes. You may have to reboot here and start back with step 1. I did.)
10. Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
11. Post Panda scan results in your next reply with others requested.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Please post these in your next reply

Sorry for the delay, it has been a long week.

I have attached the requested logs. Also, of the three files you asked me to delete, i was able to delete only two of them. I was not able to delete C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winjjq32.dll in either normal mode or safe mode. Always get the below message:

---------------------------
Error Deleting File or Folder
---------------------------
Cannot delete winjjq32: Access is denied.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use.
---------------------------
OK

Hello Flack

I understand it has been a Busy week for me too. This trojan is going to be removed first we will try this way if it doesnt' work I will get the bigger guns to kill this trojan.

Ok now I need you to open Vundofix you downloaded eariler. We are going to tell it to remove this file.

Run VundoFix
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
  • copy (Highlight just what is inside of the quote box nothing outside of it) then paste the entry below into the top box:
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winjjq32.dll

  • Click Add Files and Click Close Window
  • Click the Remove Vundo button.

Hi Flack

Good job, yes it worked.

Your version of Java is now outdated. Java vulnerabilites are commonly exploited by viruses. You need to update.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u 1".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Click Start then Control Panel > then Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Remove any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed to complete uninstall.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u1-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Ok time tidy up some here you can now delete vundofix that I had you download.

There is one more line that needs fixing in your HJT log.

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present):

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your online scans shows infected cookies that need to be cleaned out in your Mozilla\Firefox browser.

You can run Ccleaner that I had you download eariler and refer back to that post on how to set it up to cleanout those cookies out.
OR
you can manually remove cookies in Firefox

If you have any questions on this just let me know.

Now post one more HJT log for me to check and let me know how your computer is running now.

Alright, I updated my JRE and cleaned out my cookies. Also, all of the problems I had reported earlier are no longer present (including the errors that popped up each time I opened IE).
I have attached the latest HijackThis log.

Again, I would like to thank you for helping me out. It is greatly appreciated :D
