EXPL_WMF.GEN help

Unread postby weisscot » February 19th, 2007, 4:08 pm

I got a virus on my computer the other day and need some help.

I'm running Trend Micro 2005 on my computer and I repeatedly get the following virus alerts:

EXPL_WMF.GEN
EXPL_EXECOD.A
TROJ_NASCENE.Y
JS_INOR.BU

On all of these I get either a quarantine fail or clean fail for an action.

Some of the symptons that I am having are:

task manager has been disabled by the administrator
I cannot view any pictures that have been saved on my computer
Also I get repeated pop-ups of unwanted sites

Here is a look at my hijackthis log:

You are currently using an unpatched version of Microsoft XP. It is CRITICAL that you update to Service Pack 1
Please visit this link:
Microsoft Service Pack 1

and install Service Pack 1. If you run into troubles, please post them here.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT update to Service pack 2. Doing so before your computer is clean can cause Windows to become unstable.
We will update to SP2 when you are clean.

Please post back with a HJT log and your computer running with Service pack 1, or with any problems you are having updating.

Our experts would like some samples of the files you are infected with

Please download the Suspicious File Packer from here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/files/sfp.zip

Unzip it to the desktop and run it.

Paste the following list of bad files into the Suspicious File Packer window:

Code: Select all
C:\WINDOWS\stisvsq1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svshost1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\msqdevl1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\lssas1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\mservice1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\iau1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\rhds.exe

Allow SFP to pack the files. This will generate a CAB archive on your desktop.

Please click here

You will be taken to a new post page (at a different forum)
In the subject box put Suspicious files for analysis

Please put your name and email in the relevant boxes. In the message portion, please paste this:
Code: Select all
Infected Files for analysis
Suspect: SDbots
logfile: http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=18204

Then, by the attach bar at the bottom, hit 'browse' Find this file, and hit ok:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\requested-files[date].cab

Then click submit to upload that file. That way our experts can analyse the file

Please post a link to the topic at the other forum as a response to this topic
