Hi Paul and welcome to Malware Removal! :)

I will need you to rename HijackThis.exe to Scanner.exe. If you need further help with this, let me know.

Once that is done, please post a new HijackThis log.

Thanks for the Welcome!

Is there anything particular I should do to rename it, or just right click HijackThis.exe in the program files and click rename?

I'm hopeful we can get your computer cleaned. :)

Please do the following...

1. I need to see another log from HijackThis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
  • Press the Save list button.
  • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.
2. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt, along with the Uninstall list and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Quick Question, Is there a possibility that I may lose any of my files doing any of this, such as pictures or html files?

I must say, things are working a bit smoother now, no pop ups as of yet, or buffer overruns. And the:

"Error Loading
C:\windows\system\vehkotrl.dll
The specified module could not be found"

did not happen upon startup!

Does it matter if I have yahoo messanger running, or any of my antivirus or spyware S&D, or Windows defender running? Or should I close all of those too?

thanks,

Best to close Spybot and Windows Defender. Yahoo is fine.
