Bit of a scary story at the Guardian about a piece of software that holds your pc to ransom. Basically, if you don’t pay up the money they demand, it locks down your pc.
The maker claims they are within their rights as anyone who has this software on their pc has agreed to its use. Hmmmmm.
I replied to a post at TomCoyote where the OP had this on their computer. They also had various other infections. Unfortunately they didn't post again so I didn't get the chance to try to clean it.
I have seen this mentioned on a few forums and Micro Bill Systems has posted with the same sort of justification seen in the Guardian article. I especially dislike the statement that "someone else in the family must have downloaded porn and isn't telling you". A nasty way to do business.
