Hi anubissx and welcome to Malware Removal! :)

I need to see a few logs first...

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe, and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Copy and paste the log here
DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I also need to see another log from HijackThis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
  • Press the Save list button.
  • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.

Please post the requested logs back here!

Hi anubissx! :)

Please do the following...

1. I don't see any indication of a Firewall in your HijackThis log. This may be because:

(1.) You are using Windows Firewall or a hardware Firewall.
(2.) You are using a Firewall of an unknown vendor.
(3.) You are using a Firewall, but it is disabled for unknown reasons
(4.) You don't use any firewall at all.

In the case you don't have a Firewall, please download one from the list below - They are Free!

I will tell you what happend today to me:
After I use ad-aware to scan my whole laptop, there are some major danger so I delete them all and I can open the task manager again, there are some registry that dont allow me to use task manager, i found them by ad-aware and I can use it again.
Then when I was using it, some thing start and hijack my yahoo messenger, the status is some wierd websites. I use another anti-virus program which I know can kill this new virus (something like YMC Worm or something). I quit to safe mode and start the program and kill the virus (there are 5 of them) after that I go back to window and it run very slow, too slow and there something about a SCCVHost.exe I found out this was another virus. So i quit to safemode again and delete the file in system32 folder. then I scan my whole laptop again and dont find any more virus (with both AVG and my other new anti virus name BKAV). So now I am doing as you advise and i think my laptop is back to normal but I am not sure.
I have do as use advise and try hijackthis again after all those things that happend. As for firewall I am using Window Firewall.
I am also using AVG 7.5 with newest update and ad-aware with newest update.
I dont like zonealarm too much for it ask me every time I do anything.
Please help me to made sure my laptop is virus and spyware free.
Thank you very much and have a nice day.

Thank you for the logs and the details.

Before we continue to clean your Laptop, I need you to enable ALL the programs on startup. Your HijackThis log shows that some programs have been disabled on startup. You can enable them by doing the following...

Click Start > Run > type: msconfig
    Go to the Startup tab
    Click on Enable All
Click on Apply and then Close
Then, click on Exit Without Restart - I do not want you to restart your computer!

Create a new HijackThis log and post it back here please.

Good job, anubissx! We're almost done.

Please do the following...

1. Make sure you can view hidden files and folders:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
2. Next, reboot your computer back into Safe Mode:
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
3. Once in Safe Mode, find and delete the following Files in RED

C:\WINDOWS\system32\closeapp.exe <-- Delete this, unless you know what it is.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nhatquanglan9.exe

4. Reboot back into Normal Mode and let me know how things are.

I have deleted closeapp.exe in system32 but I can not find the other one (nhatquanlan9.exe) it not in system32. I have checked many times
So far my laptop is running normal, a little slow I think, mainly slow with internet connection.
When I start in Safemode I can not change my resolution to higher than 640x480 and Safemode run very slow.
And in my running process now have a "guard.exe" from SYSTEM which I dont know what it is or what it doing.
Am I cure?

Hi

I have deleted closeapp.exe in system32 but I can not find the other one (nhatquanlan9.exe) it not in system32. I have checked many times

Lets make sure that nhatquanglan9.exe is actually deleted first.

Run HijackThis and click on Open the Misc Tools section.
Click on Delete a file on reboot...
Copy and paste the following into the "File name:" text box and then click Open:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\nhatquanglan9.exe

When you are asked "Do you want to restart your computer now?", click OK.

Your PC MUST reboot to delete the file!

When I start in Safemode I can not change my resolution to higher than 640x480 and Safemode run very slow.

In Safe Mode you cannot do a lot of things. Safe Mode always runs slow, so that is normal.

And in my running process now have a "guard.exe" from SYSTEM which I dont know what it is or what it doing.

Guard.exe belongs to AVG anti-spyware which I had you download. It is safe!

Am I cure?

Yes! Your logs are now clean.

Let me know if we can mark this resolved?

You did it,
I did what you said and now my start up process drop from 48 to 38 (in ad-aware) after I deleted the file nhatquanlan9.exe but my window task manager still report over 40 process, is this normal for ad-aware and task manager to report differently?
So, now i am free of those malwares right?
And the hijackthis program, can I uninstall it along with AVG anti-spyware for I am using Ad-aware now?
Which one do you think is better, Ad-aware or AVG Antispy
I am also using CCleaner and AVG Antivirus,Do you think I have enough protection?
Can you wait a few day so I can see if my laptop have any abnormal behavior, just incase, I think it very good now.
Again thank you thank you thank you so so so very very very much much much.

Hi anubissx! :)

I did what you said and now my start up process drop from 48 to 38 (in ad-aware) after I deleted the file nhatquanlan9.exe but my window task manager still report over 40 process, is this normal for ad-aware and task manager to report differently?

Yes, I think it is fine.

So, now i am free of those malwares right?

Yes!

And the hijackthis program, can I uninstall it along with AVG anti-spyware for I am using Ad-aware now?
Which one do you think is better, Ad-aware or AVG Antispy

You can uninstall HijackThis from Add/Remove programs if you want
I would suggest you keep both AVG anti-spyware and Ad-Aware. AVG anti-spyware detects and removes more, and therefore is more effecient.

Here are some tips for a clean and scure computer.

For XP users.
It's a good idea to Flush your System Restore points after ridding yourself of malware. You can clean this by doing the following:

  • Click Start | Help and Support | Undo changes to your computer with System Restore.
  • Click Create A Restore Point then click Next. Give it a name it and then click Create, then Close.
  • Close the Help and Support Center box.
  • Click Start | Run and type Cleanmgr
  • Select (C: ) then click OK.
  • Click the More Options tab.
  • Click Clean Up in the System Restore Section.
This will remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure
  1. From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
  2. Click on the Security tab
  3. Click the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
  4. Click on Default Level and click OK
  5. Click on the Custom Level button.
    • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
    • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
    • Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
    • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
    • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
    • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
    • Internet Explorer 7 users: Check all other items and make sure that they meet the (recommended) setting when applies.
    • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
    • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the
    settings, press the Yes button.
  6. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

Free programs that may help you in keeping the PC clean

  • SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
    You can download SpywareBlaster here
A tutorial can be found here
  • SpywareGuard

An anti-virus program scans files before you open them and prevents execution if a virus is detected - SpywareGuard does the same thing, but for spyware. And you can easily have an anti-virus program running alongside SpywareGuard. It also features Download Protection and Browser Hijacking Protection.

A tutorial can be found here
  • IE-SPYAD
IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone, so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all. It basically prevents any downloads, cookies, scripts from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
    You can download IE-SPYAD here
A tutorial can be found here
  • Hosts File
A Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad, spyware sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
A tutorial can be found here
    • MVPS Hosts File
You can download the MVPS Hosts File here
Furthermore the website contains useful tips and links to other resources and utilities.
    • Bluetack's Hosts File and Hosts Manager
Essentially based on the research made by Webhelper, Andrew Clover and Eric L. Howes, it contains most if not all the known spyware sites...sites responsible for hijacks, rogue apllications etc...
      Download Bluetack's Hosts file here
      Download Bluetack's HostsManager here
Free Spyware Detection and Removal Programs
  • Ad-Aware
It scans for known spyware on your computer. These scans should be run at least once every two weeks.
    You can download Ad-Aware here
A tutorial can be found here

Use an AntiVirus Software

It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See the link below for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs.
Computer Safety On line - Anti-Virus
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?p=53#53

Update your Anti Virus Software

It is imperative that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

Use a Firewall

I can not stress enough how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For an article on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below.
