My laptop started running 'clunkily'. Spybot found the problem;

Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCentre_disabled

I've tried turning off system restore and running spybot in safe mode but it keeps coming back. My HJT logfile is below. Hope someone can help, thanks.

The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!

Please turn system restore Back on right away.
Having a bad restore point is much better than no restore point at all.


You are running HJT from a temporary location.
Create a folder called HJT either in C: or My documents and place the hijackthis.exe in there.
This will ensure we have back ups made and it doesn't get deleted .





Nothing serious in your HJT log.


Lets try this.

Go to Start " Run " type: Services.msc " OK.
Scroll down and find this service: Security center
Double-click on it.
Under the General tab, click the start button.
Then as start up type click automatic.
Click Apply and OK.



Rename Hijackthis.

Right clck on Hijackthis and choose rename.
Rename it to nofun.

Post a new HJT log.
Let me know if security center has turned back on for you.
