I thought I was somewhat computer literate, but this stuff makes me feel like an idiot. If someone could look this over, I would really appreciate it.

If you could direct me to whomever created this crap, I would appreciate that as well. 8) I can put them in jail and publish their names for public retribution. :D

Thanks

start hijack This and put a check at the following lines

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PSof1] C:\WINDOWS\system32\PSof1.exe

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Themes - C:\WINDOWS\system32\lvn8095ue.dll

now click Fix Checked

close Hijack This and remove the following files
C:\WINDOWS\system32\PSof1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lvn8095ue.dll

Download Ewido scan. Install it Doubleclick the icon on your desktop. Update it.
Perform a full scan and copy the log it makes, and save that one to your desktop.

Restart your computer

Run Hijack This and place a fresh log on this board, together with the outcome of the ewidoscan

Spoke too soon; pop-ups are back. :? Oh well, hopefully I'll be clean soon.

You have a version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

I just read another post in which they mentioned multiple users on the computer. Should I post an HJT log for each of the profiles on my computer?

There are five profiles. My wife and I have admin privileges but the kids do not. My wife's profile ceased working about two days ago. A new profile was created for her and the old one deleted.

I aplologize if I should have mentioned this before or this causes you additional headaches. Please bear with me, I am gradually discovering how little I actually know.

It may be helpfull - please label them so we can follow which is which. The limited user account will probably be less infected. Please mark which ones are limited please. You may need to tempary give admin to run some of the tools.
