Can someone please review my HJT log?

Unread postby InfiniteD » November 2nd, 2006, 12:12 am

Hello. I was a student here several months ago. Unfortunately, there were too many constraints on my time and I was unable to complete the course. Six day work weeks are EVIL! Anyway, I ran a HJT scan today and, while (to my knowledge) it looks clean, I would like to know if someone could tell me what I can safely remove to clean things up and maybe streamline a bit. I notice there are entries with (file missing) after them, namely:
1) O9 - Extra button: Panda ActiveScan - {653D93AF-C741-4e5e-8C1B-59BA43F93E16} - http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan (file missing)
2) O9 - Extra button: Panda spyXposer - {EE657293-B4C4-4752-B035-DCBBC2D04008} - http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/s ... ncipal.htm (file missing)
3) O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

Here is the complete HJT log:

Both Panda Activescan and spyXposer work fine, despite reporting (file missing) in HJT log. I had the same problem as a post I read from Southpaw regarding AVG reporting "Trojan Horse Downloader.Agent.GPZ" and sporder.dll. Unfortunately, I didn't think about the fact that the file path was "ActiveScan", and I allowed AVG to remove the file. I removed the ActiveScan folder from C:\WINDOWS\system32 and then went to http://www.pandasoftware.com and reinstalled ActiveScan, which replaced all files as they previously were as I had wanted, however, HJT still shows the (file missing) at the end. Those entries, I believe, are for the IE quick link buttons I have installed for Activescan and spyXposer. I'm not sure what is going on with the 3rd (file missing) entry.

Any help will be sincerely appreciated! :)

Hi InfiniteD,
Your log is clean.
Except for O2s and O3s, HJT can erroneously report "file missing" on any entry. Nothing to get excited about.
If you are concerned about hidden trojans or worms, download and run
AVG Anti-spyware (Ewido), letting it remove anything it finds.

Generally, you have adequate protection now, and it would be unusual for anything to get in there easily.
Not to worry.

Thank you very much askey127! :) I appreciate you taking the time to look over my log very much! I feel better knowing that someone who really knows what they're looking for checked it over. I figured out that the "O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)" is related to Spy Sweeper and can probably legitimately be removed. I downloaded the "Scan Only" Spy Sweeper trial, but removed it after only 2 scans because both took over 2 hours to complete and the shields seemed to be causing slow system response time. Thanks again!

You should NOT remove the O20 from Spysweeper if you still have the program. It tells Spysweeper to be active when/before you log in to protect your system.

Suggest you go back into HJT backups and restore it!!

I haven't deleted it. It's obviously not hurting anything where it is so I'll just leave it as is, although at the moment I have no intention of returning to Spy Sweeper. Thank you for letting me know that it could cause a problem if it is removed. ;)
