ABI Network, Aurora Help

Unread postby chocolatepiekid » June 15th, 2005, 3:30 am

Hello,

Firstly, let me say that I very much appreciate you taking a look at my problem, which is with the ABI Network, or Aurora, which seems to be or has been a problem with some other forum members. I've already taken the first steps detailed in the other relavent threads I found on the board, which was to start in safe mode, run nailfix, run an ewido scan, run hijackthis, check a certain box, (F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe) then restart in normal mode and run another hijackthis scan. Only when I did the first hijackthis scan, the aforementioned item didn't come up in the scan, so I didn't check it. Here are the logfiles, for the ewido scan and the first and second hijackthis scans, just in case:

Download
CleanUp! here or here.
don’t use it yet we do that later

***
Download Pocket Killbox.
Unzip the files to a folder like c:\killbox\
Don't run the program, we'll do that later.

***
Run hijack this and put a check at the following lines

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: WinStat - {EE02B99B-1D55-48bc-B8DB-649A42CE45F6} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat12.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jeybh] C:\WINDOWS\System32\jeybh.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [oqbxqty] c:\windows\system32\dcztrb.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [eguucuk] c:\windows\system32\rrifei.exe r

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com

O16 - DPF: NDWCab - http://www.neededware.com/ndw3.cab

Now close programs except hijack this and click Fix checked

***
Run cleanup which you downloaded before

Go to option
Select ‘custom’
Put a check to:
    * Cookies
    * Prefetch
    * Temp
    * All users.

Press 'cleanup!'
When the program has finished press close
The programm will ask you if you want to log off, click NO there’s one more thing we need to do, so we will restart the computer later in this fix.

Run Killbox (doubleclick Killbox.exe).

Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. in the full path of file to delete paste the following
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat12.dll
and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No
Repeat that for the following files
C:\WINDOWS\System32\jeybh.exe
c:\windows\system32\dcztrb.exe
c:\windows\system32\rrifei.exe

After the last file when you are promted to reboot click YES
Let the system reboot.

Hello Perculator,

Thank you very much for helping with my problem. I followed your directions, and everything went fine until I tried to do the final steps using Pocket Killbox; I entered the file paths into the program as you said I should, but when I told it it could reboot, it began "verifying registry entires", and then gave me this error message: "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" And it canceled the reboot. Here is the Killbox history log, should it matter:

------------
c:\windows\system32\rrifei.exe
Delete on Reboot
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat12.dll
Delete on Reboot
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat12.dll
Delete on Reboot
C:\WINDOWS\System32\jeybh.exe
Delete on Reboot
c:\windows\system32\dcztrb.exe
Delete on Reboot
c:\windows\system32\rrifei.exe
Delete on Reboot
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat12.dll
Delete on Reboot
C:\WINDOWS\System32\jeybh.exe
Delete on Reboot
c:\windows\system32\dcztrb.exe
Delete on Reboot
c:\windows\system32\rrifei.exe
Delete on Reboot
--------------------

Any ideas? Again, thanks for the help, I appreciate it muchly.

Then you just have to restart the computer manually , which you probably did.

if you didn't you can repeat from the killbox part and then restart.
then run Hijack This and place a fresh log on this board.

Looking smashing

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

  1. Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:

Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

  2. Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  3. Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  4. Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  5. Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware, Malware, and Hijackers

  6. Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer

  7. Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  8. Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Glad I was able to help.
