I have tried all of the previous suggestions and still have issues. It started when IE Menu bar disappeared. Now semantec A/V won't run and online scanners are getting shut down during scans.

Here is the HiJackThis Log:

Hello Rob. Welcome. I will be glad to help. Since it has been a few days since the HijackThis log was created, I would like to see a new one to work with. I'll get started with this one, but could you please run a fresh HijackThis scan and post the logfile to this same thread in case something has changed? Thank you.

Thank you.

The first thing you should do is move HijackThis into it's own permanent folder. It is running from a Temporary folder right now and is subject to deletion.
    1. Open up My Computer.
    2. Click on C: drive
    3. Click File > New > Folder
    4. Name the folder "HJT" or something that you can identify the program with.
    5. Move hijackthis.exe from the Temp folder into the new folder.
    6. Just run it from there from now on.
    * Click here if you need further help with that.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a newer version of the ewido program available now. It has become AVG Antispyware 7.5. I would like you to uninstall ewido 4.0 and replace it.
If you have the paid version of ewido, you should copy the license key and save it to Notepad prior to removing ewido. Once AVG-AS is installed, the license key can then be entered.

First, right-click on the ewido icon in the system tray and select "Exit".

Next, open the Control Panel, click "Add/Remove Programs", find the ewido program on the list, click it once to highlight it, then click "Remove" to uninstall it.
Then find the entry for jre1.5.0_05 (under "Java") on the list and remove it the same way as there is a newer version of it to install as well.
Reboot the pc now to complete the uninstalls.

Then, using Windows Explorer, locate and delete the following folder:

C:\Program Files\ewido anti-spyware 4.0
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, please download and install CCleaner from here.
Do not run CCleaner just yet.

Then download AVG Anti-Spyware to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
  • Install AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the installer.
  • Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch AVG Anti-Spyware is checked.
  • On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
    • Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
    • Click on Change state next to Automatic updates. It should now change to inactive.
    • Next to Last Update, click on Update now. (You will need an active internet connection to perform this)
    • Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and uncheck Start with Windows.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
AVG Anti-Spyware manual updates.
Download the Full database to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder and install it by double clicking the file. Make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed before installing the update.

Then go here
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
    * Click the Download button next to
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9

    * You should be taken to a page that says
    J2SE(TM) Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9

    * Click to put a dot in the circle where it says, "Accept license agreement".

    * Then, from the Windows Platform box at the top of the list, click where it says, " Windows Online Installation (typical download size is ~MB), Multi-language".

    * Choose to run the installation.

O6 HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ Control Panel present

The above line, showing in your HijackThis log, should only be present for one or more of the following reasons:
    1. You set the restrictions on purpose.
    2. You used an anti-spyware program like Spybot S&D's Home Page and Option Lock down features in the Immunize section of Spybot.
    3. Your workplace administrator or network administrator set the restrictions.
If none of the above reasons apply, we should fix it with HijackThis. If it was intentionally set then you can ignore it in the following HijackThis suggestions.
The entries for the poker sites are optional as well but I do recommend removing them as poker sites are notorious for introducing malware to computers.
WeatherBug, too, is optional but has been known to bring adware with it.

A note of caution: When you allow a site into the "Trusted Zone" on your internet settings, you give that site permission to have total access to your pc and to do whatever it may choose to. I advise against allowing any site into the "Trusted Zone" unless you are 100% sure that you trust it completely. A site should be able to function properly without being placed into the Trusted Zone. I have included the sites in the HijackThis fix should you choose to remove them.
For future reference, you can also remove entries from the Trusted Zone by going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > and then clicking on Trusted Sites.

Next, we need to make sure that the AVG antispyware guard is disabled so it will not interfere with the HijackThis fix:
    1. Open AVG by double-clicking the icon in the system tray.
    2. In the 'Your security status' section, toggle the Guard realtime protection 'off' by clicking 'active' which will then change the protection status to 'inactive'.
    3. If AVG prompts you as to whether you would like to "Restart the guard" when you reboot reply 'no' and set it to 'inactive' for the duration of your cleanup.

Open HijackThis now, do a system scan only, and when it finishes place a check before the following lines:
