Hi liamwade987 and welcome to malwareremoval forums

I am currently looking over your log. As I am an Undergraduate, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Thanks for your patience!

Hi liamwade987

Next please download ewido antispyware from http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and install it.
  • After ewido is downloaded and installed, it should automatically update itself.
  • The main "Status" menu will appear. Select "Change state" to inactivate "Resident Shield," then right click on ewido in the system tray and uncheck "Start with Windows."
  • If Ewido does not update itself, do it manually. Go to the toolbar and find "Update." Under manual Update click "Start Update."
  • Exit ewido.

Download: ResetProtocolDefaults.reg

Soory about the delay,as i was out all day saturday.

Good morning to you dan12.

Since my last post, my dad told me to remove those two sites from my trusted zone ,he told me this is unsafe as they may allow sites to run with fewer restrictions.

After doing that my quicktime as started to work :D and it now appears in add/remove.

Pease could you tell me what mvps (resetprotocoldefaults.reg) does and why i need to merge, do i stil need to run this now that my quicktime is working?

I have ewido/atf ready for use and i will disable spywareguard when we are ready for fixing.

Do i need all those 04 lines at start up ?

ill wait untill you get back to me before i go any further ewido/kaspersky/uninstall list.

Sorry for all the questions, its that i am worried i might mess up.

MANY THANKS,
liamwade987.

Hi liamwade987

Please could you tell me what mvps (resetprotocoldefaults.reg) does and why i need to merge, do i stil need to run this now that my quicktime is working?

This Instruction is to reset the trusted zone, it's a simple reg file that needs to be run.
For this to work it has to be merged into the registry (If you look upon it as resetting back to factory settings) When you use the link right click, save target as or save link as, save to your desktop. then locate on your desktop, right click and merge.

While I appreciate your dad is looking out for you and giving you helpfull advise which on this occasion was good advice with regards to the trusted zones.
It is important to follow my Instruction in the order I have set out else you are going to get confused.
So continue with the Instruction I set out for you and let me have the logs
There is no need to worry if you follow my Instruction.

Hi liamwade987
Your doing really well and you can show dad you did it all on your own.
He is only doing what I would do for my chidren, so dont be too hard on him.

You're using a P2P filesharing programs that is considered by many in the anti-malware community as dangerous. These programs often come with undesirable components bundled in them. Please visit http://p2p.malwareremoval.com/ information on what programs are considered bad along with the related malware they install. Also included are programs considered clean which your programs seem to be.
This is your choice to keep them, let me know what you decide.

Ok your log is looking good, items that the kaspersky scan picked up are in system restore and I will deal with them soon
I need you to update Java
You are running an older version of Java.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9.

  • Scroll down to where it says " Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."

  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the icon next to it.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_09-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Read through this first you may ask dad if you need advise on this. :D
Now I would like you to install the MVPS Hosts file Here in order to block many bad sites from being accessed
This tutorial may help you Here

Can you let me know how things are with your pc?
Thanks dan

Hey dan12.
Thanks for getting back to me, like you said i did have to ask my dad to give me a hand doing all the things you asked, as im not too good with all this complicated computer stuff  But i will say this, i am learning along the way how important it is to keep my security on my laptop tight.

As for p2p programs i have on my laptop, after reading your link i think i will keep them, i only use them for music and i scan every file with bitdefender before i open them, after pops told me that these programs are dodgy!!

We have updated java, done that mvps host file thing.

As for my laptop when we clean out all the rubbish using atf/ccleaner i get a box pop up from bitdefender saying it has stopped :-

Trojan .clicker.AB and Application.jsforcepopup.D and my laptop is not infected ? It does this everytime.

One question ? Can i now take off that host file from my desktop.

Many THANKS,
Liam.

I cannot get f-secure on line scan to work, i have allowed the active x to download, javascript is enabled and i have admin rights.

All i get is constant clicking as it tries to load and the loading bar keeps flashing on/off?

I think i have got rid of trojan.clickerAB /js.forcepopup.D.
I ran a search for local settings and scanned c:\documents and settings\liam using bit defender, it found both and deleted them.

After i ran atf/ccleaner and bit defender did not show any popup window warnings, also ran a full system scan using bit defender and all was clear.

THANKS,
Liam.
