Help!! Wininet.dll problem after attack.. cant run my apps

Hi.. I am urgently needing help here.

I have this computer with Kaspersky IE 6, Run ewido almost on normal basis, etc. I found a few days a virus in my system i clean it was no big deal.

But after that I had an error when rebooting saying EXPLORER.exe had a problem and I have to reinstall my Application, that I did.

I could enter to windows again but now I can't run most of the application because this error message appears:
" The procedure entry pint InternetGetSecurityinfoByURLW" could not be located in the dynamic link library WININET.dll .

I cant run almost nothing because of this message,

can someone please, please.. help me??

Hi devilishia -

You stated that you have IE6, but I find this very curious - primarily, because the error message that you are experiencing is one that is associated with IE7.

You can look at Common support issues that occur with Microsoft Windows Internet xplorer 7 Beta 2 and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3.

You can also try googling it. When you google it, try using the terms:
InternetGetSecurityinfoByURLW" could not be located in the dynamic link library WININET.dll
You'll find that all of the results from the search reflect that the error is in connection with IE7.

So, in other words, it doesn't appear that your issue is malware-related.

Thanks for you help..

I didnt found ie7 in the computer. and the one that I have there is IE6. Since I have Firefox and is the one that I use (dont like IE at all) I seldom open and uses IE. That is a common computer so, it could be the possibility that someone who uses that pc tried to installed and then deleted it.. perhaps.

If you don't have IE7 then insert your xp cd and go to Start > Run and type;

sfc /scannow

it will scan all your OS files and will fix the corrupted one.
