A recent feature on security and botnets in the Washington Post was meant to bean insight into the murky world of hackers, who spend their day operating bot networks of hacked computers. A key element of this feature was an interview with one hacker who works on spreading adware and spyware across the botnet he controls. The beginning of the article stated that the hacker decided to speak to the journalist only if he could remain totally anonymous. Throughout the interview he is referred to by his online nick, â€œ0x80â€
