WARNING!!!

If you are running a version of Windows that is no longer supported you need to be aware that once an operating system is no longer supported no further Microsoft Updates will be issued for that operating system. Such operating systems then become prime targets for malware infestations and will become infected.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Microsoft will discontinue support for Windows XP on April 8th, 2014. Windows XP has been a great operating system, and it has had a darned good run. However, the sand in the hourglass has finally run out.

Oracle's latest Java version does not support Windows XP:

It can reasonably be anticipated that other vendors will soon follow suit. If you are still using Windows XP, I strongly suggest you read and follow the advice in this article: Windows XP - The Elephant In The Room
