Curiousity questions

Hi all, If I believe my Apple device has an infection is there a flowchart or line of suggestions or actions i could use to remedy this issue?
Also would someone be kind enough to recommend a good type or sort of antivirus and anti-malware software please. I ask for this because i just recall not having one on my device.
Is there a first step in solving an infection issue?
