JimW in Hospital

Unread postby ChrisRLG » January 20th, 2006, 12:33 pm

Jim had an emergency appendectomy today. He is out of surgery and safely ensconced in room 517-A at El Camino Hospital. Don't have a phone number, yet.

The surgeon said the case was not so routine as he expected. For one thing, the appendix had started to rupture; for another, Jim decided to hide his appendix behind and slightly above his colon, which made it unreachable through the usual laparoscopic procedure. Most people position theirs in front of the colon where it's fairly easy to reach laparoscopically.

He will be in the hospital for a couple of days (at least through the weekend, I would guess), so the hospital can keep an eye on him and give him lots of intravenous antibiotics because of the increased risk of peritonitis. Yum, yum!

I am sort of spacey. Last night was a VERY long night, and today has been a VERY long day. I'm going to bed. G'nite!

=================

Many thanks for the update. I had been praying all was well.

Please give Jim my best wishes, let him know I am thinking of him.

Pat, I from the UK do not have an easy method of getting anything to him.
(Card, grapes etc) and I would think he needs mostly love and such showered on him.

I would not do this without permission, can I post to let other admins and staff know of his health status. He only told me I think on the forums, so he may have wished to keep it private.

Yourself, please keep yourself in good shape.
I know when such things happen that sometimes your own needs are forgotten, by yourself as much as by others.

God be with you both.

Chris (ChrisRLG)

================

Please feel free to post. That is his intention. I'll print out all
the replies and take them with me to the hospital - could there be a
more meaningful bouquet? Please don't do the gift or card route - he's
in half of a room that is not much larger than a broom closet, so there
is barely space for the hospital bed and nurses, let alone visitors.
I'll certainly relay your good wishes to him. Thanks for caring.

Pat

Best wishes to both of you and get well soon Jim.

Since it's probably difficult to get flowers into the room, let's try to sneak in a "cyber bouquet". ;)

"Refuah Shlema uMehira" as we would say it in Hebrew. May G-d give you a "A full and speedy recovery". Both of you take care of yourselves.
