Does anyone have any experience with this antimalware application? is there any positive recommendations for it or should I stick with malwarebytes for now?

thank you in advance

Looking at the herdProtect website... http://www.herdprotect.com/index.aspx
This product uses a cloud based scanning engine. Any infections/malware impacting the user's ability to access the Internet could render this scanner, ineffective.

In it's current release only scans for malware, it does not remove it.
Removal of any found malware is released in BETA mode: http://www.herdprotect.com/downloads.aspx
Scan and remove malware from your PC based on detections from all 68-engines.
(Available today in beta)

From the herdProtect site:
Can I re-enable a file after I have removed it with herdProtect?
No. Well not directly in the current release. herdProtect will not delete the file from your PC, instead it simply removes it from your system and renders it in-active and places it in the Quarantine folder (which is a sub-directory of the Scanner (/Program Files/Reason/herdProtect/Scanner/Quarantine). While the file can be restored (we have a tool for this), the registration points cannot be restored at this time. With that said, be very careful with what you end up removing and pay close attention to our recommendations. We are very aggressive at ruling out false positive detections but you should look at each detection before removing it (this is why multi-removal is off by default).

I would be very leery of using any malware removal tool while it is in "beta" mode. Additionally, not having a recovery option for any registry entries removed could be problematic if there is no current registry backup.

Some various discussions/reviews of herdProtect:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ ... tect-scan/

In my opinion, I would stick with well known established scanners, until more is known about the herdProtect product and more real world use is seen, with a non-beta version.

What I do find useful is the Herdprotect database of files ... http://www.herdprotect.com/knowledgebase.aspx ... which can be used to help identify files which you may not know.

However, as far as the program itself is concerned, like Wingman, I do not recommend the use of protective programs that are only in the Beta phase of development, and I would wait to see if it becomes a fully developed product before abandoning a tried and tested program like Malwarebytes.

There's an old computer geek saying that goes, "Software undergoes beta testing shortly before it's released. Beta is Latin for 'still doesn't work.'" There's more truth than fiction in that phrase.

Seriously, I never use beta software on anything but a machine designated for test purposes, it's just not safe to use on anything else.
