Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and AVG?

Question - if anyone has a spare moment.

My "problem child" (aka the boss) has clicked again and got infected with "System Defender", which I have removed with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. The script I used suggest that if my anti-virus did not catch the infection (AVG), I might be served to upgrade to register Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Can I run both together and/or is it worth it to upgrade?

Thanks for any ideas/responses. Hope the MRU is clicking along, wish I did not have to drop out.

Hi KevinK,

Malwarebytes is designed to compliment an anti-virus, so it should happily run alongside AVG. If whoever is using the computer is likely to click/download anything, having the realtime protection the paid version of MBAM offers would definitely not be any harm.

The MRU is still as busy as ever, plenty of malware around unfortunately. If you ever have the time to come back, you know where we are.

In this case it's certainly worth to upgrade.

Some AVG users do experience an error message, but for these users, there is an easy workaround in form of excluding certain files of MBAM in AVG:
