MSN monitoring

Unread postby walshie » June 3rd, 2008, 9:32 am

Hi,
A bit off topic but I'd like to be able to monitor my childrens usage of MSN.
It's really hard to get the balance right between precaution and control.
Is there a simple solution that you might be able to recommend?
Thanks,
W

I use this software on 12 computers at my church.

They are used like library machines by lots of different people through the day, often young people.

That program, plus winpatrol and a good anti-virus program is the only security software installed for run time checking.

I do use limited user accounts (windows XP) so that they do not have admin powers.

=====================

But with all that checking, the best deterant is a teacher/parent/supervisor looking over the shoulder.

Make sure the computers are always used within an area of the house that is not private - NOT the childs bedroom.

Do make the odd visit to that room while they are using it, take a quick look at the screen each time doing so.

Be seen to be looking. If they quickly change the page - then take a deeper look at the inactive windows etc :) as they are trying to hide something.
