No but "Per favore smetti di parlare ad alta voce in questa lingua irritante" came in handy.

There were just too many people shouting to be heard!

Is Italian only irritating if spoken loudly then ? ;)

Always wanted to visit Venice but have never got round to it. Nearest I ever got was Trieste way back in the 70s, when I was still working ships.

Really must arrange a visit before it sinks beyond sight. :mrgreen:

No, the phrase was said to all the foreign tourists speaking languages other than Italian :P
