Yes... Ferrari will definately need some "help" from Renault if they are to take either the Driver's or Constructor's Champioships.

So, you think Renault is begging to sweat some?:

Renault has claimed that their car is capable of showing more pace ahead of the introducing a revised package at the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim, after being comprehensively outpaced by Ferrari for the second race in a row.

Having already run the C-specification RS26 engine already in recent races, Renault are confident that they have done enough race mileage to justify fettling with it to give slightly more power and also get back the edge over the Ferrari.

Indeed, head of engine development Denis Chevrier claims the engine is not showing its full potential but as Ferrari begin to switch the formbook around, he believes they can unlock more from it.

"The C specification engine was introduced as a new family of engines, which gave us a baseline for then developing the V8 even further. Fernando will have a one-race old unit in Hockenheim, Giancarlo a brand new one, but both drivers will benefit from performance upgrades for the next race.

"The engine is intrinsically capable of achieving greater performance, and by changing both the tuning and the way we run the engine, we will be able to unlock more of it from the next race onwards."

AHA!! Ferrari responds:

http://www.crash.net/news_view~t~Todt-- ... 133976.htm

Ferrari boss Jean Todt has issued a warning to Renault and the rest of the Formula One grid , claiming that there is no reason why the Scuderia's latest resurgence cannot last for the rest of the season.

While many believed that Michael Schumacher's success - at the head of a Ferrari 1-2 no less - at Indianapolis was the result of Michelin playing cautious after the vents of 2005, Todt insists that Sunday's Magny-Cours dominance was more indicative of a return to form.

Asked whether he felt Ferrari could carry on Schumacher's successive wins, and his eighth in total in France, Todt insisted that the German's home grand prix would merely see a continuation of the team's recent frontrunning performance.

"I think we will not only be quick at Hockenheim, I think we will be quick everywhere," he proclaimed. "And then maybe someone we will make a completely wrong choice of tyres at one race... However, we will be strong, and our competitors will be strong, so it will always be little different.

"We knew that there was no reason why we should not be competitive [at Magny-Cours]. We had very good tyres available, but not only for Ferrari. You could see that Toyota was very strong with Bridgestone over the whole weekend. Unfortunately, for them - and for us - they had some reliability problems and they could not score as many points as we wished they would have scored.

"As you can imagine, it's very crucial for us in the championship, if we are ahead, that some cars are in between us and our rivals. Our competitors are very strong, they do a good job, so it's up to us. If we want to win the championship, we have to deserve it and do the best job we can."

Todt rejected suggestions that Ferrari's soft tyre choice had been risky on what had been a far hotter weekend than expected in central France.

"It was no gamble," he insisted, "We know very well that the evolution of the track always gives some advantage, and takes away the graining which is the weakest point when you have soft tyres. Bridgestone made different types of tyres available to the teams, which were very good. Our tyres were very good, and Toyota's tyres were very good, even if they were different, so it was no gamble."

As Schumacher himself pointed out in the post-race pres conference, Ferrari's biggest concern had been in not getting a long-distance run in on the tyres before the race.

"We were worried because there was always a question mark as we didn't do so many laps in proper race conditions," Todt confirmed, "Consequently, we might have ended up with degradation of a tyre which is different to what we were expecting. Let's say that, here, it went the way we could expect.

"We had a problem during the free practice three, and it was tight to put the car back into the best situation. We knew that we just had time to do it, but we had to do it and the guys did a fantastic job. It was tight, but it was even tighter for Felipe [Massa], as his car was finished after Michael's."

Lets see how long before Renault says something, lil bit of psychological warfare here
