Is Italian only irritating if spoken loudly then ?
Always wanted to visit Venice but have never got round to it. Nearest I ever got was Trieste way back in the 70s, when I was still working ships.
Really must arrange a visit before it sinks beyond sight.

No, the phrase was said to all the foreign tourists speaking languages other than Italian
