Hi,
Probably a silly question but I guess Win XP Computers with IE8 and Java 7.51 do not require updating with Java 8.
Just ran the program that checks for old versions and it said Java 7.51 is the latest Version
That's not a silly question at all. :)

It's not that Windows XP computers do not need updating to the latest version of Java. Indeed, Windows XP, running any version of Java prior to Java 8, will be fraught with the exact same vulnerabilities as would later operating systems if they were running older Java versions. However, those later operating systems are supported by Java 8. So, the real issue here is that Java 8 does not support Windows XP. Therefore, your only reasonable option at this point is to remove Java from your Windows XP computer.

As Microsoft is discontinuing support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014, you may anticipate other software vendors following Oracle's lead and also dropping support for XP. If you are still using Windows XP, I strongly suggest you read the following article: Windows XP - The Elephant In The Room
