I have XP SP3 32 bit running on the desktop and as its getting towards its EoL I am looking at replacing it.
Despite the negative reports I have had I am thinking of W8 as its got the longest life left in it. I have run the w8 Upgrade Assistant and other than a couple of minor issues I can run W8 without problem.
The question is this. Amazon have the W8 Pro upgrade disc @ £50 which I can use for a clean install (see Tweakhound) but what version does the upgrade have? 32 or 64? (or both?)
Can you provide a link to the actual Amazon page with the offer on it. The Amazon pages I've seen with 64bit OS ... indicate it is a 64bit version, so seeing the actual page may help us determine what they are offering.
It's a Microsoft site showing the end of life cycle for XP, but also their other operating systems. IMHO, since Windows 8 only hits its End of Life 3 years after Windows 7, the pros don't outweigh the cons enough. I would go with Windows 7 Pro, but I'm biased
