Hi,
I can not access Malware Removal forum from my Favorites internet shortcut with the followin URL "http://malwareremoval.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=11"
Each time I try and reach the site a web page appears for a second and then the following email link appears on a blank page. "[removed]". When I click on it windows live opens with a new email form addressed to "[removed]".
It appears as if my pop up blocker is preventing me from loading the web page. I set the pop up blocker to off with the same results.
I have tried deleting internet history and cookies and restarting the computer.
This happens with the 3 computers on my home network . All use Win XP and IE8.

I'm able to access the site with Firefox.

I visit the site at least once a month so I figure something changed in the last month but I don't know what. I noticed that the site doesn't look the same so there may have been an update to the site that's giving me the problem.

That link works OK for me in both Firefox and IE10.

However, as you've noticed, the site is in the process of being updated, so if your current link is not working for you, what I suggest you do is delete the link that is currently in your Favorites by right-clicking on it and selecting Delete.

Now navigate manually to the page you want to bookmark, and click on Favorites > Add to favorites to add a new link to that page.
Hi Gary,
I have deleted the favorites shortcut, internet history and cookies and restarted the computer.
Manually navigated to the malware removal URL. I get the same results.
It appears that there is something on the page that my IE8 browser doesn't like.
Since I'm using Win XP I hesitate to look at IE10.

Not sure why IE8 should be a problem, but I'll bring it to the attention of the people dealing with the site update, and see if they know what might be causing the problem, and whether there's a solution to it or not.

If I find out anything I'll get back to you.
We believe the problem has now been resolved, and you should be able to view things in IE8 again.

Let me know if you still have any problems.
Hi Gary,
I am able to access the log in page but when I try to log in I get the same results as before.
The following message appears on the top of the page:
"You are using an out of date browser. As a result of this, the board may not display properly; please consider upgrading your browser."
I believe IE8 is the latest Microsoft browser for WinXP.

Fred
We've tried accessing the site using IE8, and we can't reproduce your problem, which suggests it may be a "problem" with your copy of IE8 rather than a site compatibility problem. Best guess being that it's some kind of cached javascript.

Can you try the following for me, and see if it resolves the problem ....

  • Download and run TFC using the Download Link, and instructions below it on the following web page .... http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/tfc/

Now try logging in with IE8, and let me know if you're still having problems.
Hi Gary,
No more problems. Thanks for the support. I really appreciate it.
Fred
You're welcome, glad we got things resolved for you in the end. :)
