Problem with latest Java update

Unread postby frerom » January 19th, 2013, 9:46 pm

Re Java 7.11. I have updated 3 computers. On one of the computers Java does not work in the user account but works in the Admin account.
I tried removing the Java and reinstalling Offline, but get the same results.

I noticed that in my user account there is a Sun folder under Application Data that has the following folders
Sun/Java
+/Deployment
/JRE1.6.0.13
/JRE1.6.0.27
/JRE1.6.0.34

Wheras my ADMIN account has the following folders
Sun/Java
AU
+/Deployment
/JRE1.6.0.37
/JRE1.7.0_11

Can I just delete these folders or is there a special program to clean that up?

Finally got Java 7 to work on my user account.
It took a while and I am not sure of what fixed it but I will list most of the steps.
Used Microsoft Add/Remove to remove Java 7 update 11.
Used Explore to delete the Sun folder in all the Application data folders located in each User Account and each Local settings folder.
Reinstalled Java 7 update 11.
Reset Internet Explorer 8
Checked that Java was enabled in control panel and Add ons in Internet Explorer 8

I believe it still was not working at this time.
I remembered that my dell Inspiron Laptop had the Microsoft VM installed.
So I checked the Advanced Settings in IE8 for the Microsoft VM (located between the Java and Multimedia settings) The JIT compiler was checked. I unchecked it since i understand that the Microsoft VM is not used anymore.
Finally Java worked in my User account.

This item is considered closed.
