MY laptop is XP and i'm wondering, to use a virtual machine on it do i have to have the XP cd?

You can convert your existing Windows XP into a virtual File and then run that as a virtual machine. There is a converter out there but I am not sure of hand were it is but I believe VM Ware puts it out. The other thing is if you have a ISO image of an XP disk you can load the OS from the image via the VM interface. I use Sun Virtual Box, But I'm sure the others allow for the same. Hope this helps.
