Scanning a computer with Windows 95

Hi The old computer of my family, bought 1997 and running with Windows 95, has been running really slowly for years.. When it was connected to internet, it had e.g. no firewall. I just got curious and would like to scan it with some spyware removal program which works on that operating system. Could anyone recommend me some program and how to get it to the computer? It doesn't read burned cd's so I cannot use them.. I have an "adapter" which makes me possible to use 3,5 inch diskettes on brand new computers. But many installation programs are larger than the capacity of a diskette. And the update then.. So could anyone tell me what to do? Thanks!

I could not tell for sure - I do not have a win95 system to try on.

Considering that you can buy a decent used computer with windows 2000/XP for $100-200 these days...there's no point in using that legacy equipment. Hell, Dell is selling new computers with Vista for $350 now.

The UBCD(Ultimate boot CD) is a compilation of many diagnostic utilities, along with a few antivirus tools. You can download it as an .iso and burn it.

I also generally take the hard drives and scan them on other machines, attached as a slave device. Only danger there is if it's got viruses. I'm assuming that you have to watch that they don't infect both drives.
