Hi guys,

I was wondering if you might be able to give me a bit of help. I am having a problem with a win*.tmp.exe file being created every few minutes (not at a regular interval).

Below is a post of my HijackThis log. Any help would be greatfully appreciated as this is turning my hair grey!!

Hi wardell, Welcome to MalWare Removal !!

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure

Please create a folder on your C:\ and give it a name (example:HJT), move HijackThis.exe to that folder. Run the program from that directory from now on

I need you to download some programs to aide in our fix :Do Not Run Them Yet

Download and install Ewido Anti-Malware© by Ewido Networks
When installing, under Additional Options uncheck :

"Install background guard"
"Install scan via context menu"

Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click update
Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
Ewido Manual Updates
When finished, close Ewido

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune

Show Hidden Files :
Click Start
Open My Computer
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options
Select the View Tab
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK

Reboot to Safe mode
Restart your computer and begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard just before Windows starts to load
If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear.
Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter

Run HijackThis
Scan and when it finishes, put a check mark only next to these following items : (if present)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winpsa32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winpsa32.dll

Close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open
Click Fix Checked

Open Windows Explorer, locate and Delete the following folders or files in BOLD : (if present)

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\win64.tmp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winpsa32.dll

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program

Run Ewido Anti-Malware
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
When it finds the first infected item put a check next to "Perform action on all infections", then choose "remove"
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close Ewido Anti-Malware

Reboot to Normal Mode and post a fresh HijackThis log and the Ewido log here
