Strangly Rearranged

Unread postby Froby » June 21st, 2017, 7:11 pm

Hello, my computer is in desperate need of surgeon  , seriously though, this problem is so annoying!
First, my desktop is often rearranging itself, and some of my files are even deleted altogether, like there are gremlins running amuck inside   .
Also, when I restart my computer after running any virus program that let's me know to do so (for the remaining files to be deleted,) IT JUST SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY, NO RESTART WHATSOEVER. I cannot seem to restart my computer even to refresh a slow session, I have to do a hard reboot. I also downloaded Malwarebytes Antimalware, at the first their was an error message stating that one of the files could not be executed, I got in touch with them, and they had me change on of their file names, I finally have had some success with downloading their program, even then, the darn thing kept being deleted from my computer, this has happened several times after the download, now, their program has stayed put, yet there are these issues with my computer even after running their program. I even have McAfee running on my system, still no luck there either... PLEASE HELP ME! (One last thing to note, when I boot to safe mode/w networking, I cannot access the internet, and I also get a fragmented blue screen on my desktop picture)!!

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the Malware Removal forum and wait for help.

Failure to post replies within 3 days will result in this thread being closed.

Hello Froby,

Welcome to Malware Removal! My name is mAL_rEm018, but feel free to call me mAL. I will be helping you with your malware related problems :)

Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

To make sure everything goes smoothly, I would like you to observe the following rules:
  • You must have Administrator rights, permissions for this computer.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start another topic.
  • Perform all actions in the order given.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask!
  • DO NOT run any other fix or removal tools unless instructed to do so!
  • Don't attempt to install any new software (other than those I ask you to) until your computer is clean.
  • DO NOT post for help at any other forum. Applying fixes from multiple help sites can cause problems.
  • I advise you to print the instructions if possible, since your internet connection might not be available during some of the fixes.
  • Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear, therefore stick with this topic until I give you the "all clear".

I am currently reviewing your logs and will return as soon as possible, with additional instructions. In the meantime I would like you to read and get acquainted with the following topic: HOW TO GET HELP IN THIS FORUM - everyone must read this, where the conditions for receiving help here are explained.

Hello Froby,

While looking over your logs I noticed that you have "Password Sniffer Spy" installed on your computer. Can you tell me if you purposely installed it?

Hello Froby,

Can you tell me why you thought using a password sniffer might help with your computer problems?

Thank you,

It's not lol, at first I thought it was an app to find someone trying to be nosy on my computer, after I found out what it was, I just never deleted it. In fact it has been my intention to get rid of the thing.

Hello Froby,

I'm afraid the only way to bring your computer back to a working state in a reasonable amount of time is to backup your data, and then perform a reset. Would you like me to provide you with the instructions for doing so?

No thank you, I already know how to perform a reset, what does formating do for an infected computer?

And, if I format, how other than a disk am I able to reinstall windows 10?

Hello Froby,

Froby wrote:what does formating do for an infected computer?

It brings it back to an "out-of-the-box state" and wipes any malware present on your computer. Of course to ensure that no infection survives, you would need to choose the option to "remove everything" (personal files, apps, etc..) during the reset process. This is why it's very important that you backup your personal data before proceeding.

I'm not sure I understand this question. Did you buy Windows 10 on a disk? If you upgraded from an earlier version of Windows or it came pre-installed on your computer, then it should reinstall automatically.

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
