So the answer for which browser I am seeing the adverts on is Chrome. I really do not use the other browsers.

We need to reinstall Chrome and see if that solves the problem.

Click Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program.
Uninstall the following if present.
Google Chrome
Google Update Helper

If you're asked if you would like to keep any personalized settings or folders, say NO...
Now make sure that the folders from Chrome are deleted!!!, delete the below if they exist.
C:\Users\Fred\AppData\Local\Google
C:\Users\Fred R\AppData\Local\Google
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google

Now reboot your computer.

Next..

Download and reinstall Google chrome from Here

Still seeing adverts?

Hi Cypher,

I removed and re-installed Google Chrome as requested. I have a couple of problems and need your advice.

There was a Windows update of 19 files just after I removed Google Chrome.

When I removed Google Chrome I forgot to unpin the Task bar Icon so when I re-installed Chrome I was able to access my bookmarks which I prefer.

When I re-installed Chrome, it was not re-installed as a Program file but only as a Program file (X86). Is there something that I forgot to do or is this normal?

Internet Explorer appears to be installed in both locations.

Re Advertisements, they do not appear to be a problem either in IE or Google Chrome.

Hi,
Re Advertisements, they do not appear to be a problem either in IE or Google Chrome.

Excellent.
When I re-installed Chrome, it was not re-installed as a Program file but only as a Program file (X86). Is there something that I forgot to do or is this normal?

No that's ok, it's where it's supposed to be installed.
As you don't appear to be having any problems now you should be good to go.
Lets tidy up and remove the tools we used to clean your computer.

Please download delfix and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on delfix.exe and select " Run as administrator " to run it.
  • Check the following boxes then click on Run.

    • Remove disinfection tools
  • All tools we used to clean your computer should be gone now.
  • You can now delete any tools/logs we used if they remain on your computer.

Protection Programs
Don't forget to re-enable any protection programs we disabled during your fix.

Please read the article below which will give you a few suggestions for how to minimise your chances of getting another infection.

I would be grateful if you could reply to this post so that I know you have read it and, if you've no other questions, the thread can be closed.

Safe surfing!
