I'm running Win7 SP1 on a Toshiba Portege Z835 laptop now with Symantec Endpoint A/V. I was using a freeware A/V previously (AVG) and some malware got through the cracks through casual internet use. Using a freeware version of Malwarebytes, I've successfully done a quick scan to remove about 20 instances of malware/unwanted questionable software. However, when I do a full scan, it eventually returns ~ 5 instances of malware (won't show what they are mid-scan), and then the computer abruptly goes to a blue screen of death and restarts. When I re-log in, there is nothing stored in quarantine, and since the scan didn't finish the logs weren't saved. I realize it's something insidious inside a required process, but I can't figure out how to simply log findings instead of having the pgm quarantine a running process using freeware anti-malware pgms. I've tried to use multiple pieces of software (Malwarebytes, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, and Ad-Aware) all with the same results. The computer is relatively new and I've confirmed there are no bad sectors. What should I try next?
Thanks for your help in advance!!
