Hi

With the information in this Sony knowledge base document, the error message you are seeing suggests it may be related to BIOS settings or a faulty hard drive.

This document shows you have the latest BIOS version (R0190Z7) for your model.

Follow the instructions in this Sony knowledge base document to reset the BIOS to defaults.

Please ensure you have backed up any important personal files before proceeding.

  1. Remove any added hardware and all removable media.
  2. Reset the computer BIOS to the default values.
  3. After resetting the BIOS , ensure the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is detected in the BIOS.

Please let me know if the Hard Drive is detected in the BIOS.

Hi

I do not know how to Reset the BIOS to Default Values

I just Restarted my Netbook and Pressed F2 button.

Then Directly it went to SETUP Utility :-

5 options turned up :

MAIN
ADVANCED
SECURITY
BOOT
EXIT

In MAIN Option , it shows :

BIOS Version:R0190Z7
Machine name: VPCYB35AN
Serial No: Showed
UUID: Showed

System Memory: 2048 MB
HDD:320GB

System Date: Showed
System Time: Showed

I could only move UP & DOWN arrows which only worked on SYSTEM DATE & SYSTEM TIME. (But no changes made in Date & Time)

In EXIT Option , it showed :

Exit Setup
Get Default Values
Discard changes
Save
Shutdown

then I made EXIT from there.

I didnot do Anything else , NO Changes Made

Kindly Advise Me.

Thanks

Hi

You need to choose Get Default Values

How to restore hardware configuration to default setting by using BIOS?
There are two BIOS types of VAIO notebook: PheonixBIOS and AMIBIOS.
The operating steps and operating interface vary with different BIOS types.

PheonixBIOS

AMIBIOS

Hi

Then according to this, the drive may need replacing.
4. If the HDD is not detected in the BIOS then a hardware failure has occurred and the HDD may need to be replaced.

You may be able to perform some diagnostics on the HDD using the installed VAIO Care software.

VAIO Care Version 6 Helpful Information

Otherwise it may be best to either return to Sony support or start a new topic on a forum that specialises in hardware issues (If you decide on the latter, include a link to this thread).

Not a malware issue

At this stage your machine looks to be clean of malware, so the continued problems you are experiencing are not likely to be malware related. As this forum specializes in malware removal I think the best and fastest solution for you is to post on a hardware troubleshooting forum.

These sites have a variety of experts, that are better equipped to investigate and resolve these kinds of issues.

Below are some recommended sites, registration is free, it only takes a few minutes. :)

I'd be grateful if you could reply to this post so that I know you have read it and, if you've no other questions, the thread can be closed.
