Hi Nathan,

Please do a new scan with HijackThis and post the results back here to this thread by doing the following:

Launch HijackThis by double-clicking on "HijackThis.exe".
Click the "Do a system scan only" button.
When scan is finished, click the "Save log" button and save to a convenient location.

A Notepad windowill open with the contents of the scan.
Hit Ctrl+a to select the entire contents.
Hit Ctrl+c to copy it.
Click "Add Reply" in this thread.
Hit Ctrl+v to paste contents of log into the reply box. I will be happy to take a look at it for you and give my recommendations. :blob7:

George,

Here is a copy of the log.

Some more info is that the spyware is spyaxe and my browser opens to the following link - http://www.systemwarning.com/

I am running a heap of antispyware like Mircosoft, Norman Ad aware, spybot and xoftspy. These aren't really helping.

My anti virus is Normans as well and it keep detecting spyaxe and quarintining it but it keeps coming back.

I have also notice a flashing sign down in my task bar that is a virus alert for malware.

Hope this helps and if you can fix it i will be in your debt.

Hello spunta75,

You do have spyaxe.

Please follow the instructions from this blog of Nick's (one of the teachers here at MRU), then return here with a fresh HJT taken after a reboot of the computer.

Hello Nathan,

It looks like we are almost there. :blob7:

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Click Tools=>Settings.
  • In the left pane Click Real-time Protection.
  • Under Startup Options Uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
  • Under Real-time spyware threat protection
  • Uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
  • Click Save button.
  • Close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Right Click the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar.
  • Select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

O3 - Toolbar: SiteHound - {73F7F495-A325-4C52-BE48-5F97FA511E89} - C:\Program Files\FireTrust\SiteHound\SiteHound.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k <--Note: This is a legitimate entry, but does not need to be run every time your system boots up.

With all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

Post back a new log, along with a description of any problems and/or concerns you are (still) having.
