My computer has the Brontok.A[16] virus

Unread postby KateDesvenain » January 19th, 2012, 10:31 am

Hello,

I am a new user to this site. I friend heard that I am struggling with (multiple?) viruses, and suggested I come here for help.

My computer's security software (AVG) lapsed for a few months, and when I eventually installed the new version, the program identified 48 viruses. If I remember correctly, the software was able to remove all but three of the viruses. When I went to reboot my computer, however, it completely crashed, and the only way I could re-start it was to restore the settings to a date prior to when I re-installed AVG -- presumably re-installing the viruses as well!

The computer has been operating worse and worse -- I can no longer use my keypad mouse (although the external mouse is still usable), my cursor jumps around a lot, and sometimes text just starts disappearing when I'm typing in Word. Thankfully, internet seems to still be working fine.

Yesterday, Internet Explorer opened on its own and announced that the computer was infected with the Brontok.A[16] virus By HVM31, JowoBot #VM community. Hopefully, you can help me get this darn thing off so I can load AVG without it crashing...

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Sincerely,
Kate Desvenain
