I still haven't solved this problem, am busy myself (full time job and running a business). Will try a few basic things over the weekend, reset settings to a time before the problem started and uninstall then re-install the firefox program.
Just to be clear, this is my personal computer (personal use only). I have a laptop that is used for the business.
