HTTP Tidserve Request 2

Unread postby notech » May 24th, 2010, 5:09 pm

I know that this has been a problem and that you people have been working at it - probably dozens of times. I get messages from Norton Anti-virus telling me that these intrusion attempts are blocked. They occur 30 minutes apart. If I go to Google sometimes the search will be highjacked to what is probably not something I want to go to. No other problems at this point, but in reading about it, it seems to be something that must be dealt with.

My question is simply: Have you now gone through this often enough so that you have a fairly direct solution for this? Practice makes perfect and all that... I ask because I am disabled and will have to set time aside and set things up to do this. Not your problem, but knowing what it might take will help me arrange things.

I am NOT a tech person but if given detailed instructions I can follow well and will take the time to get it right. Thank you for your help!

I was instructed to download HiJackThis. I did so, following all the steps and got a message. It says: Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one.

I checked in Windows Task Manager and it shows no such application running.

Since I can't do what you've asked, what do I do now so we can begin?

So. I continued working through the TrendMicro site version and was able to get the second log you asked for. The computer then locked and I had to log out of Firefox, close it all down and then come back in. At least it is still working though! Again, sorry for the trouble, but I could not install the program as you suggested. I HOPE this is the right stuff! Thanks!

Following along with another similar request I ran TDSS Rootkit removal tool and got this and rebooted as instructed in the process:

TDSS rootkit removing tool, Kaspersky Lab, 2010
version 2.3.1.0 May 25 2010 12:52:14

Scanning Services ...

Scanning Drivers ...
File "C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\atapi.sys" infected by TDSS rootkit ... will
be cured on next reboot

Completed

Results:
Registry objects infected / cured / cured on reboot: 0 / 0 / 0
File objects infected / cured / cured on reboot: 1 / 0 / 1

To finalize removal of infection and avoid loosing of data program will
reboot your PC now.
Close all programs and choose Y to restart or N to continue

Re: HTTP Tidserve Request 2

We're sorry, but it is necessary to close your topic because you have replied to it prior to receiving a response from a helper.

Due to adding on to your topic with your numerous posts it is highly unlikely that you would have received a response. Our helpers are looking for topics with zero responses. When you post replies to your own topic, it no longer has zero responses, and so it appears that you have received help when in fact, you have not.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Malware Removal forum and wait for assistance. Please do not run additional programs and/or post additional logs. May I draw your attention to THIS topic, which you should have read, and which tells you what we need you to post so that we can help you.
Your helper will ask for additional logs as needed. DO NOT reply to your own topic until you have received a response from a helper. Be patient. There are others who have been waiting longer than you, so do not expect an immediate reply.
