IE not loading and page redirection

Hi, A few days ago I managed somehow to get a virus which I thought I'd cleaned through Malwarebytes. Now, however, I can't open IE8 and when I use Safari instead I get redirected to unwanted pages from Google searches. I re-installed IE8 but to no avail. There was a ton of anti-virus software prior to my problem and even more now!! Any help much appreciated. Grezza.
