Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
  • Double-click .exe that you downloaded
  • Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
  • Don't check
    Show All
    box while scanning in progress!
  • When scanning is ready, click Copy.
  • This copies log to clipboard
  • Post log (if the log is long, archive it into a zip file and attach instead of posting) in your reply.
I ran DDS.scr and the two files are attached.

I ran GMRS. It ran for > 5 minutes then the computer rebooted. I ran it twice a again and it rebooted during the run earlier each time.

Attachments:

Hi,

Could you unselect devices and sections in GMER options and then run the scan? Make sure that you have all protection software disabled while doing that. If scan still fails try to run it (same options unselected) in safe mode.
No change. Computer reboots after 3+ minutes. I have to manually reboot in order to get an internet connection.
Hi,

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully first.

Please continue as follows:

  1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
    Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

  2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New dds log.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
I tried combofix as per the instructions. It closed down my internet before installing recovey console and caused me an inability to reconnect. I had to go to restore point. (Same as GMER)

I tried other rootkit programs with no rootkits present.

If you are unable to see if there are any problems from Hijack this, then Ill forget it.

These programs are very dangerous, unlike what used to be used by Spyware warrior.

Hi,

Was the connection broken still after a reboot?

Unfortunately, HijackThis log doesn't show enough details. Post a fresh dds log & (c:\ComboFix.txt contents if the file is present) if you want me to still work on this.
Tried it again. Same problems. If you can't give me any guidance from Hijack This, then I am left with what I have.

P.S. Can I disable 'Gearsec.exe', I get various opinions?
It's not system critical so disabling shouldn't break anything. Anyway, I'd disable Threatfire and see how system runs that way. I've seen cases in which TF caused slowdown issues.
Thanks for everything.
You're welcome :)
