Malware, Viruses, Need Help Please

Unread postby KScottleonard » December 11th, 2009, 12:30 am

I currently have CA Security Suite installed on my PC. 1 week ago, my license expired and I didn;t realize it until 2 days ago. I had been on-line for about a week with no anti-virus protection at all, and since then my PC has become infected with several malware viruses. Slow response times, pop-up ads, etc. Can you please diagnose my PCand provide guidance?

Hi,

You mentioned about your anti-virus was obsolete.
I will give the instruction to keep your system up to date with the latest protection from free anti-virus. If you want to buy and install any paid version, please do that after I announce this system is clean.

***Important :
  • You're advised to reply one log per post.
Please have a look on the Checklist. area to know what is the logs that I'm looking for.
  • While I am helping you with your computer, please don't Install, Uninstall, remove or change anything unless I ask.

First,
Remove programs.
Please Click on Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Remove the listed program(s) by clicking Remove
CA Internet Security Suite <<I have to instruct to remove this since it's obselete.
Ad-Aware <<You can reinstall after the system is clean.
Spybot - Search & Destroy <<You can reinstall after the system is clean.

If some programs listed above are not in present, please do not panic and proceed to the next step.

Next,
Reboot.

Next,
Antivirus.
  • Antivirus help you to give the maximum protection for the system.
  • You are advice to have only ONE antivirus running on the system.
  • Please consider one of this program and install it now:

Next,
Reboot.

Next,
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware here and save to the desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to:
    Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    Image
  • Refer to above image and then click Remove Selected to proceed.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the log back into your next reply
Note:
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
  • Or via the Logs tab when Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is started.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
