Xlime problem on sons computer

Hello my son is getting constant xlime pop-ups whenever he goes online and he gets a 5-10 second freeze then it takes 30-45 seconds for a page to load. I also noticed that I can't do a system restore. He has windows XP. Here is the most recent log.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Be sure you are configured to SHOW ALL FILES AND FOLDERS, including System and Hidden Files. If you don't know how to do that, check http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html and follow the step-by-step directions for your Windows version.

Download CleanUp!

http://downloads.stevengould.org/cleanup/CleanUp312.exe

Install it, but don't run it yet.

===============

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

Desktop Search
EBates MoeMoney

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

===============

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config..."
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\desktop.exe
C:\windows\system32\enewjk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gah95on6.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Hello, here is the new log. It seemed to have fixed all the problems. I noticed in C:/Windows he has a folder $hf_mig$ and about 15 greyed out folders labled $NtUninstall listed right at the top. Is it ok to delete these? Here is the new log. Thanks again. Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

The folders (gray, blue and grayed out), are Windows ServicePack and Windows Update files. You can delete the files labled $NtUninstall if you don't plan on uninstalling ServicePack 2. Is it necessary?

Unfortunately, not all of the infection is gone (yet) - my fault, since I was focused on only parts of your log.

Run HijackThis again and fix these lines - the same way you did before:

1. If your problems are gone I suggest you hide files and folders again - reverse this instruction:

2. It's a good idea to Flush your System Restore after ridding yourself of malware:

1. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
2. Click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check Turn off System Restore.
5. Click Apply, and then click OK.
6. Restart the computer.
7. Follow steps 1 to 3 again, then uncheck Turn off System Restore tab.

When you are sure you are clean create a restore point.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

3. Some advice to stay clean:

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard and IE/Spyad.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

Thanks again for all your help. I have spywareblaster but just downloaded and updated the latest version on mine and my sons computer. Will also get some of the others you mentioned. THANKS AGAIN! :lol:
