I have a Dell laptop computer that is giving me problems accessing the internet.
Here are a few technical notes:

Symptoms:
Initially - We were able to access the internet using any, IE / Firefox / Opera, browser. When attempting to access Facebook, the load would either take an excessive amount of time or simply timeout. If we were able to actually get the signin page and enter our id and password, the site would be very slow in responding.
Current - The signin pages still load slowly but this is for any site and not just Facebook. If we are successful in logging in, navigation is impossible. Any change necessary with navigation results in lost connection(s). Refreshes do not work. I have to use my desktop to post this here.
When our personal settings are loading on initial bootup, the screen goes black for about 2 seconds before the desktop gets loaded. Not sure if this is related but it may be useful in trying to track down the problem.
It was necessary for me to download the hijackthis software on this computer and then transfer it to the laptop. I will probably need to do the same with any other software that will be required.
