IE can't access msn and related webpagesbut internet working

My Internet Explorer, for some reason, stopped being able to load msn or related webpages (including hotmail) suddenly yesterday evening though the internet itself is actually working fine - e.g. I can get other webpages such as Google, BBC News, Facebook etc etc - it just seems to dislike MSN for some bizarre reason. After extensive research, I'm told that this may be a malware invasion and that's why I have turned to this forum for some advice. Can anybody advice on where the problem may lie? I do have a HackThis log that I can upload but if it is something that is actually very minor that I'm overlooking then I am all ears!
