Unread postby Wingman » September 25th, 2009, 4:58 pm

Hello Jim... Welcome to the forum.
I apologize for the delay in responding, the forum is very busy.

My name is Wingman, and I'll be helping you with any malware problems.
HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient.

I am currently under the guidance of the MRU teachers, everything I post to you, has been reviewed by them.
This additional review process can add some extra time to my responses...but not too much
.
;)

Before we begin...please note the following important guidelines.
  1. The instructions being given are for YOUR computer and system only!
Using these instructions on a different computer can cause damage to that computer and possibly render it inoperable!
  2. DO NOT run any other fix or removal tools unless instructed to do so!
  3. DO NOT install any other software (or hardware) during the cleaning process. This adds more items to be researched.
  4. Please, if you have questions about something...ASK, don't guess or assume.
  5. Only- post your problem at (1) one help site. Applying fixes from multiple help sites can cause problems.
  6. Print each set of instructions...if possible...your Internet connection will not be available during some fix processes.
  7. Only- reply to this thread, do not start another ... Please, continue responding, until I give you the "All Clean"

If you follow these guidelines, things should proceed smoothly. :)
I am currently reviewing your log and will return, as soon as possible, with additional instructions.
In the meantime... please perform the following steps.

Please read these instructions carefully before executing and perform the steps, in the order given.
lf, you have any questions about or problems with, executing these instructions, <STOP> do not proceed, post back with the question or problem.

Step 1.
HJT - Uninstall Manager Log
    Please run HijackThis
If you are on the "scan & fix stuff" page... Press the "Main Menu"...button.
  1. From the Main Menu...Press the "Open the Misc Tools"...button.
  2. Press the "Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  3. Press only the Save List...button.
  4. Press the "Save" button. The file "uninstall_list.txt" will be saved in your HJT folder.
  5. Copy and paste the contents of "uninstall_list.txt' in your next reply.

Step 2.
Please include in your next reply:
  1. HJT uninstall_list.txt file contents
Thanks,
Wingman

Unread postby Wingman » September 28th, 2009, 1:24 pm

Hi Jim,
P2P Advisory!
IMPORTANT There are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs installed on your computer.
    Azureus Vuze
    BitTorrent DNA
As long as you have the P2P program(s) installed, per Forum Policy, I can offer you no further assitance.
If you choose NOT to remove the program(s)...indicate that in your next reply and this topic will be closed.
Otherwise, please perform the following steps:
Remove P2P Program(s)
  1. Click on Start > Control Panel and double click on Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Locate the following program:
    Azureus Vuze
    BitTorrent DNA
  3. Click on the Change/Remove button to uninstall it.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each program listed.
  4. When the program(s) have been uninstalled... Close Add/Remove Programs. Close Control Panel.
Start HijackThis.
  1. If you are on the "scan & fix stuff" page... Press the "Main Menu"...button.
  2. From the Main Menu... Press the "Do System Scan and Save a Log File"...button.
When completed...Notepad will open with the new "hijackthis.log" file contents.
Copy/paste the entire (hijackthis.log) file contents in your next reply.

By using any form of P2P networking to download files you can anticipate infestations of malware to occur. The P2P program
itself, may be safe but the files may not... use P2P at your own risk! Keep in mind that this practice may be the source of your current malware infestation.
References... siting risk factors, using P2P programs: Malware: Help prevent the Infection and How to Prevent the Online Invasion of Spyware and Adware

Please let me know your decision.

Hello Wingman,

Yes they are mine, I didn't know these 2 sites are linked in any way. I first posted here than my friend told me about that other site and I decided to post there too.

Sorry for any inconvenience ive caused.

Hello Jim,

I will be assisting you with your malware problems here at Malware Removal. If you have not already done so, please inform the WhatTheTech forum, that you are receiving help elsewhere and to please close your topics. This accomplishes a couple of things: (1) It frees up helper resources to assist others that need help and (2) it prevents you from applying multiple "fixes" from different helpers, that could unknowingly, cause more harm than good.

I understand your desire to get your computer secure and it's a good thing to do... but I must ask that you not make any more changes to your system, unless specifically requested by me. Adding new software and files causes additional analysis and research to be performed and can complicate matters.
Please do not run any "fix" programs and/or remove any files unless instructed to do so, by me. I need to see what's present in order to properly diagnose the problem(s) and recommend corrective actions. Thanks.

Please read these instructions carefully before executing and then perform the steps, in the order given. lf, you have any questions about or problems with, executing these instructions, <STOP> do not proceed, post back with the question or problem.

Punkbuster warning
I see you have Punkbuster installed. This (by our definition) is considered to be spyware!
Punkbuster can take control over various aspects of your computer and some gaming tools, not unlike Punkbuster, also hinder their removals.
There are some options you need to be aware of and decide which one you want to pursue:
  1. We try to leave Punkbuster alone but there is no guarantee a spyware component doesn't 'accidentally' get taken out; so Punkbuster might break.
This will, of course, also break your ability to play games using Punkbuster enabled servers.
  2. We can just remove Punkbuster. You can reinstall it afterwards if you wish, but please keep in mind that it is spyware.
  3. We can not clean this computer at all. This ensures Punkbuster will continue to function.
Please include in your next reply, what option is best for you.

In the mean time please perform the following steps:

Step 1.
End a Process using Task Manager
Open Task Manager by pressing and holding Crtl + Alt + Delete keys simultaneously
or right click your Taskbar... choosing Task Manager from the menu.

In the Task manager window
  1. Press the "Processes"...tab.
  2. Click Image Name column heading...to alphabetize the list.
  3. Find the following:
    btdna.exe
  4. Locate each process listed above.
  5. After clicking on the process...press the "End Process"...button.
  6. When finished, close Task Manager.

Step 2.
Fix HijackThis entries
  1. Run HijackThis
    Located in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\hijackthis.exe
    • If you are on the Main Menu page... Click "Do a system scan only"
    • If you are on the "scan & fix stuff" page... Press the Scan...button.
  2. When the scan finishes...Place a check mark next to the following entries (if they are still present):
*Only check those items listed below *
      O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BitTorrent DNA] "C:\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe"
      O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [jakujagiwi] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\pijulofu.dll",s (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
      O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\Run: [jakujagiwi] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\pijulofu.dll",s (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O24 - Desktop Component 0: (no name) - (no file)
  3. After checking these items... CLOSE ALL open windows except HijackThis
  4. Click the Fix Checked ...button...to remove the entries you checked.
  5. Choose YES...when prompted to fix the selected items.
Once it has fixed them, close HijackThis and reboot your computer normally.

Step 3.
Delete Multiple Files and Folders
We need to delete some files and folders. It will be easier and less error prone, if we use a batch file, please follow these steps:
  1. Copy all text in the quote box (below)...to Notepad.
    @echo off
REM: Remove Directory and all sub-directories and files
    rd /s /q "C:\Program Files\DNA"

REM: Delete specific files within a Directory
    del /f /s /q "C:\WINDOWS\system32\pijulofu.dll"
    del %0
  2. Save the Notepad file on your desktop...as delfile.bat... save type as "All Files"
    Image
delfile.bat <<------------- you should see this on your desktop.
  3. Double click on delfile.bat to execute it.
A black CMD window will flash, then disappear...this is normal.
  4. The files and folders, if found...will have been deleted and the "delfile.bat" file will also be deleted.

Step 4.
RSIT (Random's System Information Tool)
Please download RSIT by random/random... save it to your desktop.
  1. Double click on RSIT.exe to run it... read the disclaimer... click on Continue.
  2. RSIT will start running. When done... 2 logs files...will be produced.
The first one, "log.txt", will be maximized ... the second one, "info.txt", will be minimized.
  3. Please post both... "log.txt" and "info.txt", file contents in your next reply.
(These logs can be lengthy, so post 1 log per reply please.)

Step 5.
Please include in your next reply:
  1. Any problem executing the instructions?
  2. New RSIT log.txt and info.txt file contents
  3. PunkBuster descision
  4. How is the computer behaving?
Thanks,
Wingman

Hello Wingman,

1. The instructions were easy to follow and I have done all that you have asked. \

2. I will now post my logs in the next reply

3. I will choose option 2, I would like to remove punkbuster and install it later as this is the least of my concerns. I don't know how to do this to your liking, would you like me to go to control panel and remove it?

4. My computer seems to be running the same, there are no fixes that I can see so far. One thing though, I have Malware Bytes Anti Malware installed on my computer and its supposed to execute when my computer opens up, im getting an error that says error 707 (3) which never seemed to happen before but has started ever since I got the keylogger in my computer.

Thank you.

Re: I got Keylogged!!! Hijack this log included

Unread postby Wingman » October 1st, 2009, 6:27 pm

Hi Jim,
Thanks for giving me your PunkBuster decision, probably a wise move, because it might get broken anyway.
I have posted steps for the removal of PunkBuster. I also investigated the MBAM error from the MBAM FAQs
Error 707: Error during enumeration of languages. Please reinstall the application.

Please read these instructions carefully before executing and then perform the steps, in the order given.
lf, you have any questions about or problems with, executing these instructions, <STOP> do not proceed, post back with the question or problem.

Step 1.
Uninstall PunkBuster Services
  1. Click Start...then click Run.
  2. In the open text entry box...please copy/paste the following:
    appwiz.cpl
  3. Click the OK...button. It takes a few seconds for the program list to be "populated'.
  4. Locate the following program(s):
    PunkBuster Services-->
  5. Press the "Remove" or "Change/Remove"...button to uninstall the program.
    Carefully read any prompts...
Some uninstallers prompt in a way to trick you into keeping the program, sometimes, preventing them from being uninstalled again!
Don't worry if you can not find all programs...some may not have an uninstall feature.
  6. When finished...close/exit Add/Remove Programs.

Step 2.

Hello Wingman,

1. The instructions were easy to follow and were done correctly just as u asked.

2. Punkbuster seems to be removed due to the OTM program, it is not listed on the add or remove program listing either.

3. OTM log will be in the next reply

4. PB was run on only 1 game that I am aware of and that as Wolfenstein Enemy Territory and I opened the Wolfenstein folder and deleted the PB folder.

5. RSIT log and info.txt will be in the next reply.

Thank you.
