Hello there

Attempting to install HiJackThis as per instructions

Firstly when double clicked exe, computer shut down Realised may be because not having administrator rights When re-opened up in administrator section message said Windows closed unexpectedly and gave this Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 2057 and some more

This time when double clicked got two windows popped up
1st message Program might not have been installed correctly Continue?
2nd This can cause IE to stop responding or crash Then given choice of get update of HiJackThis, run IE without addon or continue

Been new to malware attacks (computer can view in IE normally or in private mode but cannot access no sites in Firefox - get redirected to adult themed sites or a page with yellow triangle and black ! mark in the middle of triangle with cannot redirect message in white square

Speaking with Firefox rep, informed have malware and Firefox suggestion of going to Spybot was blocked by malware (Spybot is already installed on computer and yet still got malware today)

My question for the forum is:
Where do I find latest version of HiJackThis or is IE8 been extra cautious and I should just click the continue button even though IE8 double warns, will crash

Thanks

We understand that you are having difficulty running certain programs, including HijackThis. However, in order for us to help you it is necessary that you provide us with a HijackThis log, and it is possible you may be able to trick the malware into letting you do this. First, download HijackThis to a clean computer, then rename it from HijackThis.exe to any other name you want, using an .exe extension, for example... YourLastName.exe. Once you have done that, burn it to a CD (preferable to using a flash drive that may easily become infected) then transfer the renamed file to the infected computer and run a scan, then start a new topic and include your HijackThis log.

Please follow the guideline at the link below to start a new topic and post your HijackThis log. If you are unable to create and post a HijackThis log, then your only option may be to reformat your computer and reinstall the operating system.

This topic is now closed. Please start a new topic by following the HijackThis Guideline posted here, just be certain to rename HijackThis: >Guideline for posting your HijackThis log<
