Hi guys,

I've previously posted on this and ... I should have known better ... I went back and tacked on a reply regarding the findings of Panda Activescan on my computer. That bumped me into archived messages. My own fault, of course. So, after performing a routine check up recently and scanning Panda, it came up with the following trojan...

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Net Stuff\Installations\Nero-7.2.7.0_eng.exe[Cab\CE86BCAB.cab][NBVSS_0378A38CD2.dll]

I didn't install this program myself (a shared computer) but i am familiar with and didn't think there'd be a problem there. Here's my HijackThis post and hopefully someone can help me.

Step 1
Older version of hijackthis

    You are using an older version of hijackthis, please uninstall the old version
      1. click on start
      2. then go to settings
      3. after that you need control panel
      4. look for the icon add remove programs

    choose hijackthis and click on remove


New hijackthis

  • Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.

    Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required    .




Step 2
Please make an Uninstall list :
To access the Uninstall Manager, please do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file.
Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.



Post the New HijackThis and the Uninstall list using the Reply button.

I'm not actually on the home computer right at the moment so this is to let you know I may be a day or two over the three day limit. But I'll get onto it ASAP. And I'll do all the things you listed and post the logs within a couple of days. Thanks for taking the time to help me out

Good Day :)
User has 2 AV's in list, one running; outdated java, and flash; bad Nero 7 ultra, outdated FF. says trojan found by Panda. Do intructions for Add/Remove, and get a better look with an RSIT.

Please print out or copy instructions to Notepad for reference.

Step1
Note: Only run 1 Anti Virus and 1 Firewall as two will conflict.
We will update the other items later.
Delete outdated/Bad Programs
  • Click Start
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs
  • Find and click Remove for the following (if present):


    AVG8
    COMODO Internet Security If Anti Virus is included, delete AVG instead
    ewido anti-spyware 4.0
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
    McAfee Personal Firewall Plus Only One Security suite or 1 Anti Virus and 1Firewall should be installed and running. As these 3 McAffee programs are not running, best to uninstall.
    McAfee SecurityCenter
    McAfee VirusScan
    Macromedia Flash Player 8
    Mozilla Firefox (1.5.0.7)
    Nero 7 Ultra Edition


NOTE: Take care when answering any questions posed by an uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into keeping the program.
**REBOOT Computer**
You may update Firefox at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/


Step2
Download and Run RSIT
  • Please download Random's System Information Tool by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open:
    • log.txt will be opened maximized.
    • info.txt will be opened minimized.

  • Please post the contents of both log.txt and info.txt.
