Hi :)

OK please try this online scan instead:

ESET Online Scanner:

Note: You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan. You will however need to disable your current installed Anti-Virus, how to do so can be read here.

Vista users: You will need to to right-click on the either the IE or FF icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run as Administrator from the context menu.

  • Please go here then click on: Image
Note: If using Mozilla Firefox you will need to download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe when prompted then double click on it to install.
All of the below instructions are compatible with either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.
  • Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: Image
  • When prompted allow the Add-On/Active X to install.
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is NOT checked, and the option Scan archives is checked.
  • Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:
    • Scan for potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
  • Now click on: Image
  • The virus signature database... will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
  • When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically.
  • Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
  • When completed select Uninstall application on close if you so wish, make sure you copy the logfile first!
  • Now click on: Image
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.

Note: Do not forget to re-enable your Anti-Virus application after running the above scan!

When completed the above, please post back the following:

  • Inform myself how your computer is running. Any problems encountered and or further symptoms?
  • ESET Log..
  • A new HijackThis Log. <-- Remember to right-click on HijackThis and select Run as Administrator.

OK, I will need to be able to view the ESET log so I can advise the appropriate course of action.

It should be located here:

C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.

Also post a new HijackThis log please.

Remember to right-click on HijackThis and select Run as Administrator.

Hi :)

OK please double check that a log was not created, if so please post it.

If not run the system maintenance outlined here and try the online scan again please.

At this time I see no reason why both we have tried should crash the system, if however it does again and you are unable to save a log inform myself and we will try something else OK

ESETSmartInstaller@High as CAB hook log:

OK we will try something else.

how come i have 132 gig free now some things i want must be getting deleted
A combination of system maintenance and having removed malware so far would account for this.

Dr.Web CureIt AV Scanner:

Please download Dr.Web CureIt. Save it to your Desktop:

  • Right-click on drweb-cureit.exe and select Run as Administrator then and click Scan to run express scan. Click OK in the pop-up window to allow the scan.
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and if something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, select Complete scan.
  • Click the green arrow Image at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click Yes to all if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, in the menu, click File and choose Save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Note: this report may need to be renamed to Dr.Web.txt in order to post it on the forum.
  • Please post the Dr.Web.txt report in your next reply
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.

Note: During the scan, pop-up window will open asking for full version purchase. Simply close the window by clicking on the X in the upper right corner.

When completed the above, please post back the following:

  • Inform myself how your computer is running. Any problems encountered and or further symptoms?
  • Dr.Web.txt.
  • A new HijackThis Log. <-- Remember to right-click on HijackThis and select Run as Administrator.

Not a lot I can do with that I'm afraid, IE working from a screenshot. As I am unable to retrieve full file paths for anything found. Please carry out the instructions from my prior post, thank you.
